Peter Chiaramonte, PhD
Director of the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership
On behalf of everyone here at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, we wish to thank you for your interest in what we believe is going to be a most inspiring new program in organizational leadership. We also applaud your leadership initiative in seeking us out.
Here we see an opportunity to build a unique leadership program in what I personally consider to be its proper administrative home: interdisciplinary arts and science and, specifically, to be grounded as we are in organizational psychology. This is where I believe the real challenges to organizational leadership will be in the twenty-first century. Not with numbers so much as with people - with community, business enterprises, government, art, health, education, and culture.
On the whole, traditional programs tend to be more technically oriented toward entry-level management positions than we are. Ours is a confluent approach to psychology, team dynamics, self-sufficiency, leadership strategy, and communications. Our foundations are in history, philosophy, literature, science, physiology, economics, sociology, cinema, culture, and aesthetics. Students come to us equipped with technical expertise in their particular profession, craft, or discipline. And here we will coach and inspire you to bridge these boundaries and contribute to leadership well beyond any singular realm of knowledge.
This is going to be quite an adventure and we hope you can join us on our journey forward into the twenty-first century. It's not how many followers a leader has that matters as much as how many leaders one has created in the team. We are all captains; we are all crew.
Again, we welcome your interest in our program and wish you well.
